Description: Join us for a gallery opening and discussion with the artist. There will also be a special presentation on literacy in Maine. 

Lisa Crothers is a Maine Writer and Photographer with a passionate emphasis in the Humanities and a strong concern for social Issues both domestic and global. Inspired by engaging difference and diversity, Lisa’s social platform encompasses both writing and photography to share a specific story with her audience. Her goal is to push the limits of ordinary social concerns and allow people to see things in a new light, opening the boundaries for concern, care and compassion.Her latest show Fallen Through the Cracks is a photographic journey documenting the social issue of Illiteracy. "Illiteracy is a problem across race and gender. In the United States 14 million American’s cannot read beyond a 5th grade level.”Lisa Has a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Southern Maine, an M.A. in Literature and Writing with an emphasis in Russian studies from Union Institute and University and is currently working on her PhD in Humanities and Culture.
