|Title:||Peace Corps: Serving in Lesotho|
|Contact:||Cindy Schilling, 646-8181|
Lesotho gained its political independence in 1966; the first Peace Corps volunteers arrived in 1967. Roughly one third the size of Maine, its major exports are water and labor to South Africa. It also has the third highest per capita HIV/AIDS rate in the world. Three returned Peace Corps volunteers who served in different areas of Lesotho will present perspectives as told through pictures and artifacts. They will also discuss the challenges and rewards of entering and serving in the Peace Corps.
