Your Government, Your Neighborhood
Meet members of Senator Angus King’s office and have an opportunity to ask for help, share concerns or learn more about what Senator King is doing to help Maine residents.   Senator King formed the "Your Government, Your Neighborhood” program as a way to get his staff out of the office and into the community to provide alternative outreach services.

Computer Camp at the Library

Library Director Devin Burritt will teach an introductory class in Microsoft Word. Come to class to learn how to use the word processing program that most of the business world uses. Registration is required. Computers will be provided.

Lunch and Learn: Ogunquit’s Art Colony

In the late 1800’s, Charles Woodbury dubbed Ogunquit an "artist’s paradise”. Woodbury later opened an art school there and the town quickly became a haven for burgeoning artists. Join Ronald Crusan, Executive Director and Curator of the Ogunquit Museum of American Art, as he shares the story and images of the famous art colony’s origins. You are welcome to bring a lunch, and the library will provide drinks and desserts.

Ice Cream, Gasmasks and God with Joyce Lovely
For the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, we welcome local author Joyce Lovely for a book discussion.  In her new book Ice Cream, Gasmasks and God, Lovely recounts growing up in Liverpool, England amid air raids, bombs and gasmasks.  Come hear her stories while enjoying the traditional English fare of scones and strawberry jam!  Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing after the event.

Summer Reading Begins!
This summer, kids age 3 to entering fourth grade are invited to participate in the "Every Hero Has a Story” Summer Reading Program. Come by to register and to receive a bag with prizes and instructions on how to complete the program. Events are happening all summer long! 

Tweens and teens entering fifth through twelfth grade are invited to participate in the "Unmask!” Summer Reading Program. Come by to receive a registration kit. Raffle tickets will be given for chances to win any number of cool prizes or gift cards.

Meet members of Senator Angus King’s office and have an opportunity to ask for help, share concerns or learn more about what Senator King is doing to help Maine residents.   Senator King formed the "Your Government, Your Neighborhood” program as a way to get his staff out of the office and into the community to provide alternative outreach services.

This week, learn to use a Makey Makey! We will make a banana piano, and play some sweet tunes on a cardboard guitar with the help of our invention kit that turns everyday objects into touchpads!

Come look at the art from The DaVinci Code and The Inferno, and also learn the secrets behind Da Vinci’s Last Supper and the Italian paintings inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy. Bring your favorite pet to show and share at the Wells Public Library Annual Pet Show! The amazingly talented Abby Greenip of Facepainting by Snowqueen will be on hand to provide free face painting to any interested party. A Literary Fieldtrip to Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge
Join us for a fun morning learning about Rachel Carson, author of the landmark environmental book, Silent Spring.  We’ll meet at the Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge on Route 9 in Wells for a tour, and hear about the woman who started an ecology movement.  We will also be discussing Silent Spring, so participants are encouraged to read the book prior to attending.  Open to all ages.

Gardening with Jolene: Create an Indoor Herb Planter
Master Gardener, Jolene Staruch will share her expertise about how to create a small container garden for your kitchen herbs.  We’ll provide all of the plants, soil, and pots.  At the end of the program you’ll have a great planter to use for cooking, aromatherapy or just to enjoy!  Registration is required.
