Kate Braestrup is a community minister, law enforcement chaplain, and the author of the New York Times bestselling memoirs, Here If You Need Me, Marriage and Other Acts of Charity and Beginner's Grace: Bringing Prayer to Life.  On Tuesday, June 4th at 6:30 pm she will be at the Wells Public Library to share her experiences of being a chaplain with the Maine Warden Service, and her life as a well-known Maine author.  Please join us for an evening with Kate Braestrup!  For more information and to register, please call the Wells Public Library at646-8181 or email kbryant@wellstown.org.

Lunch and Learn: Jim and Lee Anderson - Central Asia and Western China travels
Jim and Lee Anderson call Kennebunk, Maine their home, but they could easily be at home with a suitcase in their hands traveling the world.  On Friday,  June 7th from 12-1 The Andersons will talk about their travels to Central Asia and Western China at the Wells Public Library’s Lunch and Learn series.  The Library will provide drinks and desserts, so bring a bag lunch (or not) and hear an interesting talk accompanied by a photo slide show.  The Andersons are experienced amateur photographers and will show photos of some of the people they encountered on their trip while recounting their stories in a talk they call "6 Degrees of Separation: Photos from Central Asia and Western China.”  This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Wells Public Library.  Please call 646-8181 or email kbryant@wellstown.org to register.

World Oceans Day
Celebrate World Oceans Day at the Wells Public Library on Saturday, June 8th at 11:00. A representative from the Seacoast Science Center in Rye, New Hampshire will be here to talk about tide pool organisms. They will also be bringing touch tanks for all the children to explore.  Please register in advance by calling 646-8181, e-mailing dburritt@wellstown.org, or by using the link on our website. The program is limited to the first 30 registrants. The recommended ages are 4-8. Sponsored by the Friends of the Wells Public Library.World Oceans Day occurs on June 8th of every year with the mission to "celebrate and honor the body of water that connects us all, for what it provides humans, and what it represents”. People are encouraged to wear blue and tell two facts about the ocean that day.

Library Board of Trustees Meeting
The Wells Public Library Board of Trustees is comprised of nine officials elected by the residents of Wells. The Board serves as the governing body of the library for the public to whom the library belongs. As such the Board is delegated both legal and practical responsibilities which deal with the operation of the library. These delegated duties are a public trust. It is the obligation of each Trustee, therefore, to know the library, its basic mission, its strengths, and needs, and to plan for the library’s future. The Board’s single purpose, as advocates of the library, is to meet the needs of the community. Their meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:00 pm in the meeting room of the library. The public is welcome to attend.

Letterboxing for Kids
Letterboxing is a fun global treasure hunt where seekers follow clues to locate a hidden box. Inside the box is a rubber stamp and a notebook, where the seeker can leave his or her own stamp and a note if they wish. Collect stamps in your own notebook to remember all the boxes you find!

In our event, kids will learn about Letterboxing and get to try both seeking and placing their own boxes!

Author Josh Pahigian
Josh Pahigian is the author of The Ultimate Baseball Road-trip and 101 Baseball Places to See Before You Strike Out.  He recently published his first novel, a mystery entitled Strangers on the Beach.  Set in Old Orchard Beach, it crosses the story-line of a billionaire adventurer, who arrives in Old Orchard Beach under unusual circumstances one summer, with the stories of several townies.
