Candidate's Night
Join us to meet local candidates for the November elections. This non-partisan event will be moderated by the League of Women Voters. Town officials will be on hand to answer questions about local issues on the ballot. This is the third program in our Fall Political Series.

Lunch and Learn: An Allagash Haunting

The Wells Public Library presents a special Halloween Lunch and Learn! We’ll be "treated” to the professionally adapted audio program of Maine Author, Tim Caverly’s book, An Allagash Haunting-A Radio Classic. Join us for this entertaining and spooky story of 10 year old Olivia’s canoe trip down the Allagash as she finds herself alone in the remote Maine woods in perhaps the worst storm ever! Listeners will hear snapping campfires, ghostly music, the haunting call of a loon as over 120 scenic and historic pictures of the Maine woods are shown.

Learn the craft of memoir writing with authors Ann Hood, Richard Hoffman, Suzane Strempek Shea, and Helen Peppe. Join these nationally known New England authors to talk about writing memoir, how memoir affects family, and how to begin writing your memoir.

Please join us for a repeat-performance by two fantastic musicians. Emery Hutchins and Jim Prendergast will be performing songs, tunes, and stories from Ireland and America. This duo plays a unique combination of Celtic and American county music.

Lunch and Learn: The Historic Victoria Mansion of Portland

Friday, November 7th from 12-1—Lunch and Learn with senior staff from the Victoria Mansion of Portland! Join us to learn about this historic national landmark which was the summer home for Ruggles Sylvester Morse, a Maine native who made his fortune in New Orleans as the proprietor of luxury hotels. You’ll hear why the Victoria Mansion is so unique, see some great photos, and learn how the staff and volunteers prepare the mansion for the holiday season and their thousands of visitors!

This month’s Random Fandom will be celebrating the magic of Harry Potter! Stop by the library on Friday, November 7 at 2:00 to make your very own magic wand, eat wizard snacks (do you dare to try an Every Flavour Bean?), and play games. You may even win a prize in Harry Potter trivia! This program is open to grades 5 -8.

History of Political Cartoons
Erin Bishop, Ph.D, will be back at the Wells Public Library to examine different political cartoons, and break down their components to understand what makes them effective. In addition, we will examine how political cartoons have swayed public opinion in the political process. Erin is a lot of fun, and presents in an entertaining, yet informative way. You won't want to miss this last program in our Fall Political Series!
