Money Smart Week: Get Informed about Credit Reports
Money Smart Week® is a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances. Come to the library to learn how to take charge of your money with the experts from Key Bank in Ogunquit!

In this second program in our series, Muriel Basile of Key Bank in Ogunquit will explain how to get your credit report and how to use the information to your advantage and earn better credit.

Springtime Crafternoon
Come to the library to make crafts in the sunshine! We will provide the supplies for you to get as creative as you can. We will be hosting two sessions of this fun event: 10:30 a.m. for the younger ages and 2:00 p.m. for grade school and above.

Ever wonder what happens in the library after dark? Let your stuffed animal find out! Come in for a pajama party, and leave your stuffed animal for a library sleepover. Come back the next day to see pictures of what kind of trouble the animals get into while you’re gone!

Knit and Crochet Group
Bring your current project to the library! There are always opportunities for beginners to learn a new stitch or tip, and we are open to all kinds of needlework. From embroidery and cross-stitch, to knitting and sewing, whatever you do – if it’s portable, bring it in & join us!  We meet from 10:30-12:00 every Friday, as long as the library is open.  All ages and levels of ability are welcome.

Lunch and Learn at Harbor Park with Naturalist Josh Fecteau

Join naturalist Josh Fecteau, creator of JOSH'S JOURNAL: New England Natural History and Foraging for a midday walk around Wells Harbor Community Park. We’ll explore the spring landscape to learn about trees, shrubs and wildflowers. We'll also scan the marsh, fields and wooded areas for birds and showy insects. Lawyers in Libraries with Attorney Hesper Schleiderer-Hardy
Contending with legal issues can be scary, frustrating and expensive. May 1st has been deemed Maine Law Day, and on that day libraries across Maine, including the Wells Public Library, will partner with local lawyers to share information about how to access civil legal resources. 

Attendees will have an opportunity to meet a lawyer in their community and receive information about free and low-cost legal assistance. There will be an opportunity to have a brief consultation with an attorney at no cost. Wells Public Library is pleased to have partnered with local lawyer, Hesper Schleiderer-Hardy, for Maine Law Day. Attorney Schleiderer-Hardy works at Childs, Rundlett, Fifield & Altshuler, LLC in Portland, Maine, but lives with her family in Wells, Maine. She concentrates her practice in: Family Law (Divorce, Parental Rights & Responsibilities, Grandparent Visitation), Estate Planning and Probate Law (Wills & Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Guardianship/Conservatorship, Adoptions) as well as Protection from Abuse/Harassment and Collaborative Law.

Art Gallery Opening: Don LaRochelle
Please join us for a free reception on Saturday,May 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Refreshments will be provided, and the artist will answer questions. The art will remain on display for the month of May. We hope to see you there!

Don LaRochelle is an oil painter from Wells, Maine. His prime interests lay in landscapes of the ocean, rivers, lakes and streams of the Northeast States, as well as still lifes of interesting subjects.

Wellness Wednesday: Get Informed about Lyme Disease
Lyme Disease is one of the fastest-growing infectious diseases in the United States. Fortunately, with some precautions, we can reduce our risk of contracting Lyme Disease. Bob Maurais, co-owner of Mainely Ticks, will tell us about this growing health concern and then teach us how we can protect ourselves, our family, pets and yard from ticks that carry Lyme Disease. Bob worked as an Industrial Arts/Technology Education teacher for 31 years. In 1996, Bob was honored to represent all Maine teachers as "Maine Teacher of the Year."

New England's Rock Walls
Kevin Gardener, author of The Granite Kiss: Traditions and Techniques of Building New England Stone Walls, has been a stone wall builder for nearly 40 years. Come learn about the history and craft of constructing rock walls from a man whose family business is widely known for traditional New England stonework, particularly for historic restoration of antique structures. In addition to The Granite Kiss,Gardener has published an examination of several historic sites in the Monadnock NH Region in the 2006 anthology Where The Mountain Stands Alone.Come watch as Kevin constructs a miniature stone wall while telling us why the stone wall is here to stay!

Drowned Valley

Drowned Valley is an old time bluegrass and gospel group from the Seacoast of New Hampshire. Drowned Valley has played to enthusiastic crowds at the Wells Public Library in past years, and we look forward to welcoming them back!
