New Carpeting Installation
**Update 5/17/2013**
The Wells Public Library is pleased to announce that we will be
installing new carpeting. The installation should begin on Monday, May 13th and be
completed before Memorial Day. We
appreciate your flexibility as some areas of the library may be inaccessible
during this time. We plan to remain open, but if we are unable to retrieve the
item you are looking for we are happy to place a hold on it and collect it
later from the stacks or another library. Storytimes will continue as planned. If the
children’s area becomes inaccessible they will be held outside of the library,
weather permitting, or in another area of the building. Please check the Wells
Public Library website for updates.
**Installation has begun on Monday, 5/13. Our non-fiction and biography stacks are closed until further notice, but children's materials, new materials, fiction, and AV are available. The front parking lot is also CLOSED. Please park on the side or rear of the building**

10:30-12:30. Children of all ages are invited to come and read or visit with

Drowned Valley to Perform
May 21st at 6:30
The Wells Public Library will be
presenting a performance by the group "Drowned Valley” on Tuesday, May 21, 2013
at 6:30 pm.
Called by some "the real thing”, Drowned Valley is a four piece band from the Seacoast that plays bluegrass music, fiddle tunes and sings gospel the old time way. Originally performed in small churches and villages in the southern Appalachian Mountains, the infectious rhythms and harmonies of their music connect with all ages to move the body and lighten the spirit. With guitar, mandolin, bass, clawhammer banjo and some right worthy singing, Drowned Valley is sure to get your toes tapping and put a smile on your face. Pajama Storytime

and Lee Anderson call Kennebunk, Maine their home, but they could easily be at
home with a suitcase in their hands traveling the world. On Friday,
June 7th from 12-1 The Andersons will talk about their travels
to Central Asia and Western China at the Wells Public Library’s Lunch and Learn
series. The Library will provide drinks and desserts, so bring a bag
lunch (or not) and hear an interesting talk accompanied by a photo slide
show. The Andersons are experienced amateur photographers and will show
photos of some of the people they encountered on their trip while recounting
their stories in a talk they call "6 Degrees of Separation: Photos from Central
Asia and Western China.” This program is sponsored by the Friends of the

Kate Braestrup is a community minister, law enforcement chaplain, and the author of the New York Times bestselling memoirs, Here If You Need Me, Marriage and Other Acts of Charity and Beginner's Grace: Bringing Prayer to Life. On Tuesday, June 4th at 6:30 pm she will be at the Wells Public Library to share her experiences of being a chaplain with the Maine Warden Service, and her life as a well-known Maine author. World Oceans Days at the Wells Public Library on Saturday, June 8that 11:00. A representative from the Seacoast Science Center in Rye, New Hampshire
will be here to talk about tide pool organisms. They will also be bringing
touch tanks for all the children to explore.

May Art Show: Wyatt Barr
Please join us for a free reception on Saturday, May 4th, 2013 from 11 AM to noon. Refreshments will be provided, and the artist will answer questions. We hope to see you there! The art will remain on display for the month of May.
"Wyatt Barr has lived in Portland, Maine for the past seven years, during which time he studied at Maine College of Art, majoring in illustration. Since graduating in 2012, Wyatt has worked as an editorial illustrator and commissioned portrait artist, shown work in a 3-month solo show at Local 188 in Portland, and founded an art and design publication, Acinonyx Magazine, which currently has nearly 500 contributors and participants from 26 countries."

The Wells Public Library is happy to announce that we have added an iPad to the children's room. It is located on the side of the children's computer. We have preloaded some early literacy apps for children to play with.
