Position: Library Assistant/Youth Services – Part-time, Benefits-Eligible
Library Assistant – Part-time: 34 hours/week
The Town of Wells has a year-round, part-time, benefits-eligible Library Assistant position available for an interested, qualified individual who is adept at youth services, and in particular working with teens. The individual in this position will be responsible for helping to plan, promote and run events for teens and children, and provide readers’ services. The Library Assistant also coordinates the art gallery and regularly takes active part in sharing other responsibilities and projects within the department, including helping at the patron services desk, as part of the overall Library staff and team environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in children’s and teen books, ability to plan, promote and provide programming for teens and children, ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and to capably use a variety of computer technology resources. Must have excellent organizational, customer service, and interpersonal communication skills along with demonstrated experience working with the public, preferably in a library setting. An Associates degree and at least one to three years of related work experience are required, or a combination of education, training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Must be able to work one evening per week and on one Saturday per month. Some ability to work a flexible work schedule of hours during the week is preferred.
